Hemorrhoids And Your Job
Believe it or not, your job can cause hemorrhoids. If you work at certain occupations, you may have a higher risk of hemorrhoids. This is because certain body positions can increase the risk of straining to the rectal area.
Sitting for long periods of time can increase the risk for hemorrhoids. Desk jobs, truck driving, taxi and bus drivers all have an increased risk for hemorrhoids. To help prevent this, take frequent breaks and walk for about 5 to 10 minutes every few hours. People who drive for a living can invest in special pillows that help reduce lower back strain and even reduce the risk of hemorrhoids. Also, with driving jobs try to take healthy snacks along and avoid fast or restaurant foods. Heavy lifting can also increase the risk for hemorrhoids. Always use good body mechanics when lifting to help prevent hemorrhoids and protect your back.
If you have an overly strenuous job, it is important to take great care with body mechanics to prevent straining and reduce the likely hood of hemorrhoids.
